AKITA is the product line by Finnadvance Ltd., a Finnish biotechnology company that develops highly scalable organ-on-chip platforms. Conventional in-vitro methods in early stage research do not produce reliable results when evaluating drug or therapy efficacy and toxicology in humans. The cells need very specific microphysiological conditions and stimuli to function as they do in the body. Hard two-dimensional static plastic does not induce the cells to exhibit similar protein or gene expression as in vivo. The conventional well plates and petri dishes also aren’t optimal for co-culturing multiple cell lines simultaneously.
